We love to promote the use of our listings to get as much information yourself about the properties by looking at them on the maps we link you to through Google. These maps will answer questions regarding a property's proximity to water as well as closeness to neighbors.

What is our most challenging inquiry to respond to ?

At On The Water In Maine Inc. we can get many inquiries for "ocean-front properties in which there are 4 or more bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms and water views for four couples." Unfortunately, it appears that if someone can afford to own such a nice property along the Coast of Maine, they also can afford not to rent them out. These properties just don't exist very often, and when they do, they are priced quite high because they are in such high demand. Also, having more than two bathrooms in an ocean-front rental property is unusual. Because of their delicate ecosystem, Maine Law doesn't allow for septic systems to be built in shore-front locations that will support more than one or two bathrooms.

Consider stepping down to a 3-bedroom property (6-person property) which we have many of. Also consider your use of a bedroom. We have found that many vacationers take advantage of the long summer-time daylight hours we have in Maine. Most are up with the sun at 6am and don't retire until after 10pm. So, with the short sleeping nights, how important is a bedroom really? Consider that you are coming to Maine for an intimate vacation with family and friends, and that people have been sleeping in tight quarters with limited bathroom access on the Coast of Maine for hundreds of years. If you are strict on needing 4 separate bedrooms on the ocean however, we recommend that you consider the following properties as they are the closest we have to such requests:

Springbrook Hill – Perfect ocean-view property for four couples EXCEPT, property doesn't have a major kitchen (kitchenette for breakfast/light cooking only).
Davis Cove Lodge – One of our favorite properties, PERFECT ocean-front destination.  However, the bedroom layout is that that the 3rd & 4th couples would have to share a large bedroom area.
Oyster Ledge Farm – A great property!  4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths.  However, ocean views are only from the master bedroom.  Waterfront at this property is tidal and not usable, however, Drift In Beach is a mile away, and there are many great waterfront locations nearby.
Bayberry Cottage – Our “queen”.  This property has it all, great waterfront location, great furnishings, a “perfect” destination.  Only consideration is that 4th bedroom is accessed through the 3rd bedroom.

What is the best way to search your site?

If you have the time, we recommend that you search for properties only by availability. Simply put in the dates you desire to come vacation in Maine, then browse through each search result that comes up. Even though a property might be out of your budget, call us!
