Formerly the Mansard Manor Bed & Breakfast; now a private home, the High Street Retreat is a beautifully appointed Camden getaway in a historic village neighborhood. Within just a few minutes walk to the harbor, hiking trails, dining or downtown, this wonderful house will surely leave lasting memories.
Built in 1875 by a prosperous shipbuilder, the classic Victorian is adorned with traditional antique and comfortable cottage furnishings as well as manicured lawns and gardens. The interior of this grand home boasts high ceilings, original wide pine floors, and intricate moldings. In addition to the gourmet kitchen, formal dining room, and spacious rooms great for relaxation and enjoyment; the guest rooms offer fresh contemporary bedding, with nearly all having their own en suite bathrooms. Enjoy your morning coffee and evening cocktails on the deck with peeks of the harbor through the trees.
BEACH CLASSIFICATION: We have categorized this property as having or being near a sandy beach. More specifically for this property - it is a short 10 minute walk/3 minute drive to the pea-sized / pebbly town owned public beach called "Laite Beach". Sandy Lincolnville Beach is 5 miles to the north and great for a beach day. There is not an actual usable sandy beach at this property (it's not even on the water), but the nearby beach is great for kids and that is why we have classified it as being on or in this case - "near" a sandy beach.
