Working with On the Water in Maine was very effortless. They informed us before any charges would be coming and everything we needed was sent to us before we even thought to ask for it. They made our whole vacation planning easy from beginning to end.
My husband and I wanted a week away from our busy lives and were very pleased with our location. It was exactly what we were looking for and as it was described on the listing. Being right on the water to fish and kayak everyday was perfect.

The proximity to water was great. The depth of water off the dock was a bit shallow. Was great for older kids and adults. T

The online simplicity of completing all of the arrangements was a 'big' plus. Online Check-in and check-out, plus our boat rental were simple and efficient.
This was our second year at the 'Lakewood' Cottage.
Last year and this year, our stay was part of a 'sibling' week, one of whom has a home on the lake. We initially rented the cottage because my sister could not accommodate all of us (four siblings and spouses) at her place. We also needed to bring our two King Charles spaniels. Now we will only stay at the cottage!

Everything with On the Water was first class. Outstanding communication, everything at the property was ready when we arrived, very clear instructions, great advice on ways to enhance our vacation experience. I can't imagine a better way to enjoy a Maine waterfront property. Thanks!
Lakewood Cottage is an excellent lakefront property for two people. Amazing views, the right amenities, easy access for a canoe, and everything was there that we needed -- kitchen and bath well-stocked, very good Internet access. We definitely would rent Lakewood Cottage again!

A very impressive operation, good website, contracts, additional hire, communication and especially the delightful and dedicated Ben, who made us feel very special. We rented a boat through On the Water in Maine as well. Our rental boat did not start out well as there was a problem with the engine, however we phoned in and the next day the delightful Ben solved our problems by bringing a new engine. He was polite, charming and totally committed to the firm. This was over Labor Day Weekend and he made us the priority.
Lakewood cottage has the most fantastic location, view from the cottage straight onto the lake. Waking up in the morning and watching the ducks go past!
Beautifully kitted out and very tastefully decorated, just perfect for two people. Plenty of kitchenware and a beautiful kitchen that made cooking a delight.
The fishing and swimming in the lake were great, we spent many an hour sitting and relaxing outside and enjoying the peace and quiet.

It was easy to work with On the Water - they communicated well and were very accomodating.
We loved the cottage. It was so quiet and peaceful, but also within a reasonable drive to many of our favorite places in Maine. Really liked the way the cottage was updated with brand new bathroom and kitchen but without losing the feel of an old Maine camp.

On the Water in Maine was extremely easy to work with. They even called on the day we checked in to let us know we could get in the property earlier than expected and to give us very detailed directions as it was a little challenging to find.
The cottage we rented was exactly what we were looking for; a small, tucked away place on a lake where we could have direct lake access and be in peace. It was awesome.

The 'On The Water' team couldn't have been better. The whole experience professional and easy!
One of our better recent vacations. Lakewood had been recently upgraded and was beautifully decorated ( we will 'steal' some ideas' for home). Everything we needed was provided. The lake is really excellent. Strongly recommend a small boat. And get your fishing license and try your luck! We will definitely consider Lakewood again next year.

As stated, Ben with On the Water in Maine was extremely responsive and helpful, and very, very nice! This rustic cottage is perched right on the lake, in a gorgeous setting, with beautiful views of the sunrise, and is conveniently located near both Belfast and Camden. We rented a small motorboat the first week and a canoe the second week and enjoyed canoeing in particular. My husband swam quite a bit. We had dinner and lunch in Belfast, and took a day trip to Acadia National Park, and drove to Camden one morning. It was hard to leave the cottage it was so beautiful! And I spent a lot of time bird watching and listening to the loons.
We LOVED Lakewood Cottage, and the setting is magnificent. We've spent a lot of time in Ireland, and also in the Lake District in England, and it reminded us so much of both - but in many respects it was better. It was one of the best vacations we've had in 20 years of marriage, and we hardly left the property. You have a really special place, and we hope to return next summer.
