This beautiful newer cottage in Northport is on the Little River, but very close to the ocean across the road. You can paddle on the river in a rented canoe or kayak or there is a small path to access the beach across the road from the cottage. Located along Coastal Route 1, the cottage is situated for easy access to numerous outings and exploration up and down the Maine coast (Due to the cottages proximity 100 feet from the road, there is noise from passing cars). A perfect retreat for a couple looking to do some sightseeing and have a comfortable spot to come back to and rest at the end of the day. Downstairs is a comfortable living area and great working kitchen fully equipped for meal preparation and a nice covered porch swing and beautiful views. Upstairs, a full bath with shower, laundry, and a nice queen bedroom facing the water. Great for honeymoons and romantic escapes, you will love this quaint cottage!
Enjoy a nice hike that starts a few hundred feet down the road from the cottage just past the Little River Dam - Click HERE for a trail map and guide. Or take a stroll through historic Belfast with shopping, dining, art galleries, and a movie theater.
This is a standalone cottage with its own driveway and entrance on a larger property with a main house. The owners that live in the main house are typically living at their Summer ocean side cottage in the nearby village of Bayside during the July and August months. There may be people around the main house occasionally but they will always respect a guests privacy.
BOATS INCLUDED? None, however if you are looking to rent kayaks, Water Walker or Ducktrap Kayaks offer those and can deliver them to the Property.

On the Water in Maine did a great job. The process was simple and well-explained - leaving us no need to contact you at all! (We did see your office as we drove to Rockland.) Well done!
The Little River Guest Cottage is a delight. Hummingbirds in the garden. Comorants on the pond. A chipmonk in the apple tree. The house is well appointed. The pans are good. The knives sharp. The dishes well selected. Wifi works without a hitch.
It was a joy to stay in such a pleasant spot.

We had a problem with obtaining hot water, and the remarkable giant named BEN solved the situation in record time and with typical Maine expertise and charm. Thanks be unto him!
We very much enjoyed the porch, the view across the reservoir (including the cormorant sitting on a pole jutting out of the water, and the lovely cottage which was well equipped and appropriately decorated for our simple tastes. The art work and the bedroom rug were greatly appreciated. Yes, there was some traffic noise from Route 1 but not at such a level as to bother us or to interfere with our tranquil repose. One small suggestion: it might be helpful to have available a wheelbarrow (or Vermont cart) to more easily convey luggage and groceries to and fro the parking area [full disclosure: I am 79 and very recently had a right total knee replacement!].

Everyone I worked with at On The Water in Maine was extremely friendly and professional. Our drive from Audubon, New Jersey to Northport, Maine took over 3 hours longer than we expected. I called On The Water and was told that it was no issue and if they could, they would have left a bottle of wine in the cottage to reduce the "stress" of such a long drive. Very professional.
Beautiful cottage on the lake, with the ocean just opposite the road. Extremely comfortable furnishings with refrigerator, and washer and dryer. We spent every evening on the back porch overlooking the lake ... something I will always remember as paradise.

On the Water in Maine was very responsive and kept us informed during our stay. I would definitely use them again.
We liked the availability of a canoe on the property and the chairs near the water. The kitchen was well stocked, beyond the basics.A lovely home to spend our vacation time. The decor was simple and attractive. No comfort was overlooked.

We were pleased with our experiences in working with On The Water.
The cottage is charming, cozy, and nicely decorated... just right for a couple. It is situated close to the river in a lovely, natural setting. There were enough shops and restaurants in Belfast and Northport to meet our needs. We also found the area very convenient for day trips to places like Camden and Bar Harbor. We were very comfortable and happy during our stay. The only (minor) concern that we had was the proximity of the cottage to Route 1 (about 100 feet from the road). The road noise was not an issue at night, and it didn't bother us much during the day. However, the early morning traffic (around 6:00 AM) was a bit louder than we had anticipated. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I received very timely responses from the staff at On the Water in Maine. They were easy to work with.
The Little River Guest Cottage was quite charming, and the view of the pond off the back deck was sublime! While the cottage was very cute and had amazing grounds, the noise from the street was atrocious. Since there is no air-conditioning for this property, we needed to sleep with the windows open and the constant noise from Route 1 made sleep very difficult. Had I known where the cottage was located, I would not have booked it.

Town Info - Bayside Village, Northport & Belfast
Really two towns (legally) - Belfast and Northport are neighbors, and then Bayside is located inside of the town of Northport. While only a short distance from coastal Route 1, Bayside remains a well-kept secret; a small hamlet that takes one back to a simpler, uncomplicated time. Belfast is a popular coastal town with shopping, great restaurants, and lots of art to see.
