A true Oceanfront Maine cottage, the basic cottage was built as a cottage for the turn of the 20th century, long gone , Crescent Beach Inn. Forty years ago the expanded house was purchased by the current family it has grown with that family to twice the size and includes all modern conveniences.
Best of all, when sitting in the Adirondack chairs on the lawn around the fire pit there is no where you could be closer to the Atlantic without getting your feet wet. Our view is "inclusive." We also adjoin a rare gem on the rocky coast of Maine. We are adjacent to Crescent Beach, a large sandy, swimming beach.
If your vision is straight out of the Pottery Barn Catalog this home is not for you. Our home reflects our on going perception of "the Maine Coast" ; a huge island stone fireplace in the large dining room, Vermont granite counters in the kitchen, the bar with the original soapstone sink, oriental rugs, art, some wicker furniture, porch rockers on large porches, new gas fireplace in living room and even a dragon mural in the "cousins room" as well as other bits of whimsy. The theme has always been to create relaxed comfort and fun.
BEACH CLASSIFICATION: We have categorized this property as having or being near a sandy beach. More specifically for this property - it is a short 5 minute walk to publicly accessible Crescent Beach via Bellevue St. There are also stairs at this cottage down to the beach. The stairs land on a rocky section of beach that you then can walk over to get to the sandy section. Two other great area beaches are nearby. The closest is Crockett`s Beach, but also Birch Point Beach State Park is within a 5 minute drive of the property. There is not an actual usable sandy beach immediately in front of this this property, but the nearby beaches are great for kids and that is why we have classified it as being on or in this case - "near" sandy beaches

On the Water Maine was great to work with!
We all loved Primrose Cottage. The house was wonderful...such a treat! The kitchen was a pleasure to cook fabulous meals in, the dining room was big enough to accomodate all of us comfortably and w such charm, the living room again was big and comfortable and the view!!! The beds were as comfortable as our own...everyone slept so well there! It was great to sit around the fire pit overlooking water and visit together late into the evening and we had a blast playing croquet on the intentionally obstacle ridden course that my sons set up in the yard.

The property managers at On the Water in Maine were very responsive to our needs and requests. Even though we had some problems with the property the first few days, all were eventually taken care of.
The location and views are amazing! We loved the spaciousness of the house and the ample seating in the living room and dining room. The kitchen was well-equipped and the deck was wonderful. We loved being able to watch the loons diving out in the water.
