This quintessential Maine cottage has been in the family for generations. Set on the peninsula off Hendrickson Point, it offers semi-private accommodations and wonderful views while staying close to restaurants, the general store, Owls Head Lighthouse, the Owls Head Transportation Museum, and several sandy beaches.

The wraparound deck and screened-in porch look out over the Mussel Ridge Channel to Monroe Island, Sheep Island, and Vinalhaven in the distance. Monroe and Sheep are both preserved by the Maine Coast Heritage Trust, and Monroe has walking paths to explore if you kayak over. Or simply stay put and enjoy morning coffee, evening cocktails, or a lobster feast without ever leaving the porch.

Inside, a large living room with a fireplace sits to your left, and to the right is a second sitting area with a picture window framing the view. The main level also includes a queen bedroom with a TV, a laundry room with a half bath, and the kitchen on the other side of the house. Upstairs, you'll find a full bedroom, a bedroom with two twins, a spacious king bedroom with an ocean view, and a shared full bathroom with a soaking tub and separate stall shower.

Behind the house, on the back side of the garage, the bunk house gives kids a fun space of their own to play games or curl up with a book while the adults relax on the covered porch.

With beaches to choose from, easy access to Rockland and Thomaston, and gorgeous views from nearly every point on the peninsula, Owls Head remains a favorite with visitors and seasonal residents alike.

BEACH CLASSIFICATION: We have categorized this property as being near a sandy beach. Directly in front of the cottage, a sandy patch appears at low tide, a favorite spot for finding sand dollars and catching baby shrimp and hermit crabs. Holiday Beach, a sandy beach just to the left (looking at the water), can be reached along the rocky shore or across the sandy patch at lower tide. Publicly accessible Crescent Beach is a 1-mile walk, and Crockett's Beach and Birch Point State Park are both within a 5-minute drive, all great options for kids.

BOATS INCLUDED? None; however, kayak and SUP rentals are available from two local outfitters that deliver: Port Clyde Kayaks, 20 minutes south (free delivery on rentals of 5 days or more), and Maine Sport Outfitters, 20 minutes north in Rockport (delivery by request). There’s a kayak stand at the water’s edge for your rentals.

Linens & Towels: Included, and beds are made up prior to arrival (please bring your own beach towels)
Security Deposit: Not required; however, guests remain financially responsible for any non-accidental damages.
Cleaning: Professionally cleaned before and after your stay. Above-normal cleaning will be billed at the current hourly rate.
