This waterfront cottage is just 50 feet from Seal Harbor, with a magnificent southern exposure that includes a busy fishing harbor, the open Atlantic Ocean and numerous protective islands.
Sit on the deck, relax and watch an ever-changing stream of boats, local wildlife and the passing of the day.
While this cottage is on an island, it is close enough to the mainland to be conveniently connected by a bridge but still far enough away to feel like you are in your own private paradise. Nature is kind enough to provide cool breezes on the island in the summer.
The deep water dock and pier can accommodate up to a 30 foot boat. Kayaking and swimming are possible from the dock as well.
World-famous Atwoods Lobster is not far away - they are one of the largest lobster suppliers in the world. You can head over and get some lobsters fresh off the boat from Atwood`s or others nearby and cook them at the cottage. If cooking lobster isn`t your thing, then the world famous McLoons Lobster Shack is just a mile away.
BOATS INCLUDED? None, however, SUP & Kayak Rentals are available in Port Clyde at Port Clyde Kayaks 20 minutes south, or from Maine Sport, 20 minutes north in Rockport. Sometimes, if the order is big, Ducktrap Kayaks will deliver as well to this property.

On the water were very professional and pleasant to deal with and gave us lots of information ahead of our stay. The whole booking process was simple and easy. We would definitely recommend.
We rented Blue Heron Cottage for a week in July 2017 and the whole family thought it was absolutely amazing. The views from the deck were spectacular and the house itself had everything we needed. The setting was one of the most idyllic imaginable. We couldn't be happier.

My brother in law did all the paperwork and contacting the agency. No problems I am aware of. Most enjoyable time ever.
Four of us stayed here during June 2017 and had the best time. The tides were incredible. Sitting outside on the deck was relaxing and fun to watch the boats. The house was fully equipped. We did bring our own towels and linens, but everything else was there that was needed. The only thing I would recommend is the trees above steps going to driveway need to be trimmed. And also some of the trees and shrubs facing the water could be trimmed also so you have more view of the lobster boats and water.

OTWIM is always professional and accommodating. They do all the work.
The Blue Heron cottage is one of our favorites. The location is priceless, close to everything yet private. The tides lend themselves to having the ocean be in full bloom all the time. It is a perfect house for 2 people.

It was a pleasure working with the people from your agency. Everything was done in a most professional manner. All of our contacts with the agency were through emails, and we were provided with all the information that we needed to make this stay uneventful, which is the goal, isn't it?
The Blue Heron rental unit lived up to the glowing description in your advertising materials - that is not always the case, we have found. The house is excellent with a very welcoming open kitchen, dining, and living area with large glass windows across the front facing the water. And then there is the view from the deck, which runs on three sides of the building. The deck is a great place to spend time in the sun and enjoying looking out over the calm waters of the inlet. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Blue Heron.

The best we've ever had in our 14 years of coming to Maine.
This is our 2nd but not our last visit to the Blue Heron Cottage. It is the most relaxing place looking out over the water. The house is well equipped with all you need for your stay and is close to the mainland for shopping and restaurants.

Always a pleasure.
The Blue Heron Cottage is exceptionally well maintained and up-to-date.
The cottage has a most pleasing wide deck in the treetops that affords a lovely view across the water to the west.

OTWIM is a great service organization. Justin went so far as going down to one of the houses we rented and looked around for an item I reported may have been lost there. How many company owners would do that? Tif is upbeat and positive, and receptive to all inquires and requests. The OTWIM website is an easy-to-navigate tool with great information and photos.
Keep up the good work, and see you next Summer.
We loved Blue Heron best of the three houses we rented this year from OTWIM. We liked: the great porch and views of the cove from the kitchen and dining areas; the lobstering neighbors; Spruce Head as a walkable and varied island with a mix of vacation and retirement homes and the culture of lobstering, both lobster fisher people and lobstering companies / coops. And the views around the island were refreshingly captivating -- the changing cloud, tide, light, fog, sunrise, sunset variations.
The house was nicely on one level and compact. The kitchen right at the front and part of everything was the way we like it. The dock was a real plus -- the seal, the osprey that landed with a fish and sat there casually eating it, the mergansers, the ducks, the lobster boats, such as Slave Labor and Extreme Measures whose owners lived next door. It was an education to learn about the coming and going of their working days starting at 5 AM. All in all, we loved Blue Heron.

On The Water in Maine provides the best rental experience we've had in Maine. And we've been visiting for many years. We know what to expect, and we can just slip so easily into relaxation mode once we arrive.
We loved our stay at Blue Heron Cottage! Most of the time we were on the deck enjoying the wonderful view of the water, boats, and different birds. We loved the open layout of the interior and especially the view from the big windows. The window in the master bedroom was something we've never seen before but we adapted quickly to how to open and close it. When open it allowed a nice cross-breeze with the kitchen sink window, especially when the breezes came through the spruce trees with that nice scent.

Very much appreciated the level of communication with On the Water (booking process, before arriving, afterwards). Would definitely use OTWIM again and would recommend them to others.
The setting was wonderful overlooking a beautiful bay, providing amazing sunsets, working lobster wharves nearby. The location was great -- within easy (20 minutes) drives to Rockland, Thomaston and Port Clyde and all they have to offer. The house was very well equipped and very clean, with a few exceptions. The gas grill is pretty cheap and wasn't great to grill on. But these are quibbles and easily fixed. Overall the stay was wonderful. I wished we'd booked two weeks instead of one. Would definitely go back and would definitely recommend.
