This former General Store (built in 1905) was renovated into its current state as a cottage in 1981. It is now considered one of the prime rental properties in Bayside. Entering the cottage you are greeted by comfortable furnishings, original artwork, a well equipped kitchen and a full bath. At the rear of the cottage through the screen door to the outside is a cozy deck with seating, a small table, and gas grill. The deck faces the ocean with limited ocean views and offers views of all the Bayside activity. Upstairs are comfortable, bright bedrooms, one with beautiful water views, and a shared bathroom with laundry, and on the third floor two bright, cozy bedrooms with skylights. With plenty of room in a lovely summer setting, A.C. Hopkins has been a crowd pleaser year after year.
BOATS INCLUDED? None, however if you are looking to rent kayaks, Water Walker or Ducktrap Kayaks offer those and can deliver them to the Property.

The people at On the Water were extremely helpful. Our plans changed and they were very accomodating and so friendly and helpful, even when I needed to call multiple times with questions before our stay.
A.C. Hopkins is beautifully restored--really lovely, comfortable, and light. Sweet touches everywhere from bathroom tiles to woodwork to artwork, including many by the owner. I especially appreciated the master bedroom, which is spacious and light with a view of the ocean.

On The Water in Maine was efficient and thorough in booking and checking-in.. They know their business.
AC Hopkins is the old general store and the interior of the house reflects that. The kitchen is beautifully equipped for the cook or baker. The upper floor bedrooms have the nicer views of the water. Unfortunately, the main floor waterfiews are obstructed by the neighbor's large tree. We expected and desired a better waterview. The house is near the town commons which is quintessential Maine beauty with a small harbor with a swimming dock and sailboats. There's also a playground and basketball courts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Very helpful and easy as always.
Nice cottage, great location. We had a wonderful stay. Beautiful artwork throughout. Neat, clean, love the drawer labels and the abundance of cooking utensils. Room air conditioners are a very nice feature even though we didn't need them. Fans in all the rooms were enough. Perfect for a family of 5 or more. Only drawback is the water view is blocked by large evergreens out back. Do whatever it takes to get those removed and the view will be spectacular.

Highly responsive to questions. Justin went out of his way to answer questions we had, even though it was 4th of July weekend!
Great location, for starters. Bayside is a family-centric village; our daughter had no problem finding friends. Northport is close to Belfast, Camden, Lockport, and Rockland. We drove to one or the other, every day, to buy fresh oysters (we had oysters from the Weskeag River, Pemaquid, John's River, etc.... half the fun is tasting them, to see what the differences are!), fish, or lobster. The house itself, AC Hopkins, is gorgeous: it has tasteful artwork by the owner, comfortable furnishings, and a well-equipped (best we've seen yet, and we're foodies) kitchen. We loved the layout of the first floor, and, as a bonus, we could see both the playground and the water from the deck.

Town Info - Bayside Village, Northport & Belfast
Really two towns (legally) - Belfast and Northport are neighbors, and then Bayside is located inside of the town of Northport. While only a short distance from coastal Route 1, Bayside remains a well-kept secret; a small hamlet that takes one back to a simpler, uncomplicated time. A few years back, DownEast Magazine did a great article on Bayside that is still mostly relevant today. Click HE...
