Damariscotta, Newcastle, Bremen, Bristol & Pemaquid Region

Community Information

Pemaquid peninsula is comprised of Damariscotta, Bristol and New Harbor. While visiting Pemaquid you should visit Colonial Pemaquid's Fort William Henry which dates back to 1692, also known as Fort Frederick. The Fort House built in 1792 and the castle like bunker of Fort William Henry, a replica, is impressive, and also considered haunted like many Maine landmarks. This Pemaquid Fort offers a great view of the harbor and sea beyond, and nearby is a perfect place to launch kayaks.

Damariscotta is a lovely coastal town off of Rt 1 located at the head of Pemaquid Peninsula. Oysters harvested from the Damariscotta River are a popular delicacy for visitors vacationing along the coast. The river also serves up great water touring opportunities including kayaking and boating. Damariscotta, as well as the Pemaquid Peninsula region, hosts many exciting festivals throughout the year including Pumpkinfest, Pemaquid Oyster Festival and Alewives Festival.
