A traditional lake camp located right in the heart of the desirable area of Megunticook Lake, this cottage is a great retreat for a family of up to 9 people. This is one of the first cottages built on Megunticook Lake in the late 1800's by the Babb Family, with 180 degree views of the lake, the Fernald's Neck nature preserve, Maiden Cliff, and the Camden Hills. It has undergone many renovations and updates since then, but still retains the authentic air and charm of a classic Maine lake cottage. The cottage was featured in Conde Nast's Bon Appetit magazine (August 2016 edition).
Down at the rocky shore, use the ramp for immediate water access and a dock with a water depth of 6-8 feet. This is a great location for swimming, boating, and enjoying the best of all the Megunticook Lake has to offer. The large, wraparound covered porch is a prime spot to watch boaters and swimmers. An American Bald Eagle is resident on the property most days and the loons can be seen swimming and heard calling at any hour day or night. Angler's can fish right off the dock or in the many coves nearby.
The cottage is only 3 miles from the charms of the ocean-front town of Camden, with its many wonderful restaurants and shops, as well as a variety of opportunities to experience Penobscot Bay.
Located well-off the main road down a private road along a gently sloping wooded 2 acre lot, all the residents along this side of the lake are multi-generational owners and should you choose to stay here, you will have access to a very special section of the lake.
