The property is absolutely gorgeous and peaceful. We loved all the space inside and the fire pit for gatherings outside. Pyne Cottage has everything, inside and out. We loved all of the artifacts from the owners travels. We also appreciated all of the books. Its a magical place. You might want to rent a boat, as we did but with that our stay was perfect.

Pyne Island is fantastic it provided my group with an instant vacation.
The property is a private island, close enough that you can see the mainland but still quite secluded and only accessible by boat. The island itself is sort of the perfect size. Its large enough that there is plenty of space to move around but still small enough that you can walk around the property in ten minutes or so, and you never need to worry about getting lost or straying too far from the house. This setup was perfect for our dog, since we could let her run around the island while we relaxed. Same would likely be true for older children, though we dont have any.
There are several outdoor sitting places, each with a stunning view of the water. Theyre all perfect spots for having a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the afternoon. There are also a couple of nice outdoor tables for having a meal or just relaxing. Theres a really great outdoor firepit and grill on the far end of the island. We didnt use the grill, but we did use the fire pit. They both sit right on the water, and theyre in the perfect spot for an outdoor fire or barbeque. There is a small little beach right on the property, which looked very nice. We did not do any swimming, but we did take out a canoe and paddle around the island, which was a lot of fun.
The house is beautiful. Its very spacious, nicely decorated, and a very comfortable place to spend time together. There are five bedrooms, all very cozy. The house has a very large kitchen, with plenty of space for us to all cook together at the same time. There are several sitting areas located inside the house, including two large living rooms, which gave us the opportunity to spread out when we wanted or just sit all together in different places which can be very enjoyable. As with the outside seating, the house offers many very nice views of the water. There is also a separate studio, a small one-room building located next to the main house, which was really cool. It was a nice place to sit and watch the water, and I assume could be used as an extra bedroom if your group needed more space or if someone wanted a little more privacy.
The owners are also extremely nice, we spoke to them briefly about logistics. I get the sense that they really love this place, and they feel genuinely happy sharing that experience with others. Overall, we would highly recommend.

Staying at Pyne is a unique, authentic and super recharging experience. The small island is located in the midst of Maine's wild coast, immediately making you feel deep in nature and far from any hustle and bustle. I enjoyed being surrounded by the ocean and so directly experiencing the changing tides, skies, colors and weather. If you feel adventurous, there are plenty of beautiful neighbor islands to visit and hike over and ocean activities to be found. But I also enjoyed the more retrieving qualities of this place. The house has everything you can dream of for a luxurious and recharging stay. Think of fireplaces, bedrooms with views over the water, a well equipped kitchen, bar, library..I sometimes found myself simply sitting in the living room (with its unrelenting view) in front of the fireplace for hours on end and being a hundred percent satisfied. More than just a luxurious stay it is also a very authentic and real place, the running family did a wonderful job maintaining the original details and facets of this hundred year old house. Lastly, the small island itself has ample options to enjoy easy time outside; a walk circling the island, flower and vegetable gardens, multiple spots to have dinner, take a swim, sit to watch the sun set or rise. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to treat themselves to an amazing and unique getaway.

Pyne Island is such a New England gem! The house is cozy while still keeping its classic charm, with the naturally lit living room and its patios being the perfect place to relax in the early evening. The 4.5 island is great for walks, and has a fire-pit and a hammock to enjoy. And the waters around the island are full of lobster, even when throwing traps right off the dock! I'm looking forward to going back to Pyne Island again and again.
