This classic Maine cottage built in 1905 has bright white-washed walls throughout and a cheery decor; a New England cottage beautifully situated on Juniper Point peninsula creating the perfect destination for family getaways.
Upon arriving at the property, guests are welcomed by a large deck with great sunshine-yellow rockers to enjoy mornings with a cup of coffee. Entering the cottage, a comfortable living room greets guests with newly updated furnishings including a SmartTV with streaming capabilities to enjoy family movies with a bowl of popcorn. Enjoy an evening cocktail with the cool sea breeze in the screened-in porch or family dinners outside around the dining table. The spacious back yard is great for lawn games - be sure to bring your badmitton and croquet!
Continuing from the living room into the dining room, which seats 6 comfortably, to the retro kitchen with hand-painted floors. This fresh and colorful kitchen is the hub for morning pancakes and fresh-ground coffee. Off the kitchen is the storage/laundry area with the washer and dryer and secondary wash sink that is great for rinsing swimsuits and water shoes. There is also a clothesline inside and outside for drying towels or other items. The full bathroom is on the first level with a stall shower.
On the second floor is a full, shared bathroom with the original clawfoot tub (no shower). With spacious rooms and ample closet space in each bedroom, guests will be comfortable choosing from a queen bedroom with a desk, a two-twin bedroom, another queen bedroom, and full-bed sized bedroom. Each bedroom is well-appointed and have fans to circulate air.
Across the street from the Rendezvous Cottage is the pathway to the waters edge for JPVIS members. Weekly memberships may be purchased at the link below. This cottage offers something for the entire family. The Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club is just over a mile away and offers sailing and tennis lessons for non-members. They offer adult sailing classes too! Here is a link to their website - click HERE. There are also whale watching tours, the Maine State Aquarium, and the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens to explore. Throughout the summer, Boothbay Harbor has 4th of July celebrations as well as the famous Windjammer Days at the end of June. Note about this property that is different than some other properties on Juniper Point:
The Rendezvous Cottage has a deeded right of way to the beach & deeded use of it. Not all cottages on the point have this! Additionally, The owner’s of the beach have been tremendously kind to allow anyone staying on the point to use the beach. It is a swim/sunbathing beach only. No parties, grilling or any type of storage on the beach - or on the owner’s field. This is very important for all renters to comply with beach rules, which also includes using the staircase on the right only to get to the beach from the path.
Renter’s must purchase renter membership from JPVIS if they wish to use the 2 docks (even just for sunbathing), all other right of ways, and must pay extra for tennis & boat tie-up at the JPVIS dock or storage of kayaks.
BOATS INCLUDED? No motor boats or water accessories are included. Kayaks, Stand-Up-Paddle boards and even bicycles are offered for rent through Tidal Transit Kayak Tours & Rentals. JPVIS / ADDITIONAL AMENITIES: The Juniper Point Village Improvement Society offers a one week membership ($60) for those staying on Juniper Point & McKown Point. The membership includes use of two boating docks, a beach with a swimming float, walking paths, four tennis courts, and various activities that are hosted by the association in the Community House (lobster bakes, family field day, potlucks, ice cream socials, etc). LINENS & TOWELS: The rental of this property includes all bed linens and towels. Beds will be made up upon arrival and there will be one bath towel and wash cloth per listed occupancy, two hand towels per bathroom, one bath mat per full bathroom, and two kitchen towels in the kitchen. Additional bath towels can be rented.
SECURITY DEPOSIT: No, the owner of this property does not require a security deposit, however, guests are still financially responsible for non-accidental damages at the property.
Property Specifics: Cleaning: The property will be professionally cleaned before and after the rental. Above normal cleaning charges will be billed to guest at $35 per hour. Washer & Dryer: Yes, off the kitchen. Dishwasher: No, but a dish drying rack and dish towels/mats are provided. Coffee Maker: Yes, standard automatic drip with filters. Air Conditioning: No, but fans are located in each bedroom. Heat Source: No heat in the cottage. Internet Access: Yes, with Wifi. TV: Yes, 1 SmartTV in the living room with streaming services. No cable. Water Source : Town Water (okay to drink from tap). Town water on only from mid-May to mid-October. Grill: Propane gas grill. Outdoor fire pit: No, no fires are allowed on the property. Usable Fireplace: No, no fires are allowed on the property. Parking: Yes, this rental can accommodate two cars only. There is very limited parking on Juniper Point, please plan only to have 2 cars while staying at the house. If guests have daytime visitors, they may park at the JVPIS Community Hall just down the road, but no overnight parking is allowed. Closest Shopping Village: Boothbay Harbor - 2 miles Number of Restaurants within 5 miles: 25+ Closest Restaurant: Robinson Wharf on nearby Southport Island, which offers a pub, seafood market, and ice cream take out. This restaurant is 1.2 miles away, or a 20 minute walk. Water Frontage: No, this house does not have direct water acces, but just across the street is a pathway leading to the beach and waters edge with a JPVIS weekly membership purchased separately at the link above. Beach Access: Yes, Hendricks Head Beach is located on nearby Southport Island as well as the beach access via JVPIS. Dock/Pier Access: None. Boat Mooring: None.
