A mile south, Lincolnville Beach offers even more beach as well as great dining, seafood and scenery. The Whales Tooth Pub serves beer and wine from the local brewery and vineyard in Lincolnville! The Village of Camden is a short drive to the South and the village of Belfast is a short drive to the North. Both communities offer many recreational, dining and shopping amenities.
BEACH CLASSIFICATION: We have categorized this property as having or being near a sandy beach. More specifically for this property - it is a short 1 minute walk to the rocky Ducktrap Harbor public beach, but only a 1 mile walk or drive to the public and sandy Lincolnville Beach. There is not an actual usable sandy beach at this property, but the nearby Lincolnville Beach is great for kids and that is why we have classified it as being on or in this case "near" a sandy beach.

Very professional, honest. This was our third year in a row and will return.
Our stay at the Duck Trap cottage was like staying in an enchanted cottage surrounded by Lilacs. The sunroom was our favorite room, just to enjoy the view of the water or read a good book. The cottage had all the amenities you would need, just like being in your own home. A short walk to the beach, the breeze from the bay was the icing on the cake. We are planning on returning in late summer or fall of the coming year.
Sincerely Cindy and Donnie

An efficient agency, covered all the bases to ensure needs of both the client and the owner. The check in process was a bit frustrating as we were never able to make a successful phone call into the agency from the owner's phone, only our cell phone. Discovering this involved at least 7 calls before we connected appropriately. We were tired, hungry and ready to unpack the car instead of making repeated phone calls.
OTWIM RESPONSE: Sorry for the challenges you had reaching us. We believe it's important for the protection of the Property to know when a Guest has arrived and taken possession of it. 99% of the time, Guests have no trouble reaching us - but if your cell service is poor - as it can be in Lincolnville - it can be troublesome.
Favorite features about the Duck Trap Cottage: lovely, quiet charming cottage, excellent location for access to the coast and the entire state. Sunroom gave me a perfect place to work on my art with wonderful light and breathtaking water views and the surrounding yard.

On the Water is a very professionally run organization and a pleasure to deal with.
We had a lovely three-week stay at Ducktrap Cottage, our third in as many years. The large property is so private, Penobscot Bay is a few beautiful steps away, the towns of Lincolnville, Belfast and Camden are handy for meals out and additional charming villages make delightful and easy day trips.... What more could anyone want? For two people who enjoy living simply, nothing.

Wonderful cottage. Location was great and the cottage fit our needs. We will be back.
On the Water in Maine made our first experience renting a vacation property so easy. The website is user friendly and the people I spoke with so helpful. The process of renting went smoothly with the emails, online agreements and payments. The cottage was very clean and even the front porch light was on when we arrived!
The Ducktrap Cottage was perfect for us. The simple, peaceful accommodations led to a relaxed vacation. We loved the cove at the end of the street, spending time there everyday exploring the shore and kayaking. Being able to cook some of our own meals was actually a welcome treat in the kitchen. We were sad to leave and go home.

You have a really efficient and professional company that's a pleasure to deal with.
This wonderfully private cottage is a special find. We came back this year for three weeks and wished for more. Mid-coast Maine is perfect for explorations both north and south, from Castine to Rockland to Owl's Head. The cottage's sunroom is a wonderful addition to a really cute place and because light streams in through all the windows and skylights, it is bright even on a foggy or rainy day.

Working with your agency was consistently professional and personable. Ben in particular couldn't have been more helpful and that really made a huge difference to my/our whole experience.
Great cottage - excellently located, peaceful, beautiful gardens. Best features were the comfortable beds - very important when away from home! A well thought out property,

My experience with On the Water in Maine was very positive. From the moment I made the online reservation, the agency was very communicative. The rental transaction went quickly and smoothly, again with good communication from On the Water in Maine. We were provided clear information on the property location, directions for accessing the cottage, and information about the area. We called the agency to report a minor issue (that turned out to be a non-issue), and they were quickly responsive. Staff were also very helpful when a family member was attempting to call us at the cottage. We were extremely pleased with our interactions with On the Water in Maine.
The Ducktrap Cottage was a perfect spot to spend our week in Maine. It was in a quiet location just a short walk to the water and was convenient to locations that we wanted to visit. The cottage was very comfortable. One of my favorite features was the sun room, a great bright spot to read. I was delighted to find a pitcher of fresh-cut flowers in the sun room when we arrived, a thoughtful touch. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed, the bed was comfortable, and it was convenient having access to Wi-Fi. We also challenged each other at the horseshoe pit in the back yard! When you rent a cottage online, you are never exactly sure what it will be like. We were very happy with the Ducktrap Cottage.

We loved our stay at Ducktrap Cottage. The location in mid-coast Maine is perfect for explorations both north and south and the house itself is on a lovely property just a few yards from the water on a very quiet little road. The sun room is a treasure.

The folks that run "On the Water" are amazingly detail oriented, and very tuned into the renters and their needs. Although we had no problems, I have no doubts that if we did, indeed, run into some kind of trouble, they would come quickly to the rescue.
The Ducktrap Cottage was a beautifully landscaped, well-equipped house nestled on a quiet road which led down to a lovely harbor. It was spotless, very quiet, and quite peaceful. It provided a very relaxing spot in which to take a vacation.

Very thorough and accommodating.
Location was the primary reason I chose this cottage. Having read the details I was aware of what is provided. If I were to rent in the area longer I would require a rental with a washer & dryer. It is cozy and has an excellent "fireplace" stove which takes the chill off quickly and a generous supply of instant hot water.. Water pressure is good throughout. Wireless is strong and worked well. TV cable service good. We enjoyed the horseshoe space and game.

Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. Our young children loved the cozy walk in closets on the second floor. They took full advantage to create little play cottages of their own over the course of our stay.
