This classic New England post and beam home is located on a semi private driveway on Osprey Lane in Cushing which has panoramic views of the Meduncook River from each window. The main level has an open concept from the cook's kitchen and island, an elegant dining room with sliders onto the water view shaded deck with dining table, and a spacious living room with cathedral ceilings and French doors onto the water view patio. A master queen bedroom with an en suite bathroom is also found on the main level, as well as a half bath, mud room, and laundry area. Enjoy breathtaking sunsets while playing board games or bar-b-queing on the deck.
Up the stairs from the main entry, you will find a queen bedroom with beamed wooden ceiling, full bathroom and a relaxing sitting area overlooking the living room. In the basement, you will find one bedroom with a queen and one with two twins, both having windows and ample closets. There is a full shared bathroom with tub/shower. Above the two car garage is another nice cathedral ceiling retreat with skylights and water views, perfect for teens to play games or read a book with some additional privacy from the group. The house is spread out so everyone has privacy, but can come together in the main areas to enjoy each other's company as well. There is a private dock on the property which is great for launching kayaks, picnics, and swimming from during mid or high tides.
Located conveniently in the Midcoast area, the Osprey Cottage is a destination for sea lovers and anyone wanting a relaxing and serene vacation getaway. The large, open property has excellent sun and allows space for the kids to play and explore while the adults enjoy a beverage on the deck with everyone in clear sight.
Peaceful Cushing is known in American art as the site of Andrew Wyeth’s painting of “Christina’s World” that hangs in New York’s MOMA. The original house is owned by the Farnsworth Museum, and welcomes seasonal visitors. The small town is home to other fine artists who work on this classic peninsula along Maine’s beautiful coastline. One of two houses on Osprey Lane, Osprey Cottage offers an uncrowded haven after day trips and explorations.
For basic grocery needs, Wallace's Market is located 10 minutes away in Friendship and the Thomaston Grocery is 20 minutes. Heading south, the Osprey Cottage is 20 minutes to Waldoboro which does have a Hannaford supermarket, 40 minutes to Damariscotta, 1 hour to Boothbay Harbor, and 2 hours to Portland and PWM airport. Exploring north, Rockland, known as the art capital of Maine and site of the Blues Festival and Lobster Festival, is 25 minutes. World-famous Camden is 45 minutes, with gourmet dining options on the harbor, schooner rides, and grocery shopping. Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are 2 and 1/2 hours, making a great day trip or easy overnight with a lovely scenic coastal ride up Route 1.
LINENS & TOWELS: The rental of this property includes all bed linens and towels. Beds will be made up upon arrival and there will be one bath towel and wash cloth per listed occupancy, two hand towels per bathroom, one bath mat per full bathroom, and two kitchen towels in the kitchen. Additional bath towels can be rented.
SECURITY DEPOSIT: No, the owner of this property does not require a security deposit, however, guests are still financially responsible for non-accidental damages at the property.
Cleaning: The property will be cleaned before and after the rental. Above normal cleaning charges will be billed to guest at an hourly rate.
