This large and well appointed house set just off the oceans edge is located on desirable Rackliff Island in St George near the village of Spruce Head and Port Clyde. This island is accessible via a car-driven causeway. Private, yet close to Rockland and Camden, this spectacular property has wonderful views of the ocean with beach access directly across from the property.
The cascading landscape provides a nice retreat for walks around the property or s'mores at the firepit while being on quiet dirt road away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. This peaceful setting allows for privacy and enjoyment for larger families or multiple families with an adjoining guest apartment above the garage. The spacious bathrooms and living area are ideal for family getaways. The house is located 20 minutes from downtown Rockland and 30 minutes from downtown Camden; The Jewell provides an oasis to recharge.
Walking into the house, guests are welcomed by a large screened-in porch directly off the kitchen and laundry area. There is a formal and informal dining area which leads into the open concept living room with a large TV with basic cable. There is a wood burning fireplace in the living area and comfortable furnishings throughout. The first floor queen bedroom has direct access to the deck; there is also a full bathroom on the main floor with a walk-in shower. The wrap around porch is perfect for cocktails or coffee while enjoying the lovely ocean breeze.
The second floor has 3 bedrooms: 1 queen bedroom and 2 king bedrooms. The master king bedroom has an en suite bathroom with a tub/shower and double sinks as well as small sitting/office area and a large walk-in closet. The TV in the sitting area has basic cable and streaming services. The second full bathroom has a tub/shower combination.
The second floor guest apartment, available mid-June to mid- October (depending on temperatures, end of Sept is guaranteed availability), has a kitchenette with a full sized refrigerator and stove as well as a coffee pot and dining service for 4. There is a 2 person cafe-style table and a futon couch in the main living area. The TV has basic cable services. The guest bedroom has a queen bed and twin bed and then a full bathroom directly outside the bedroom with a stall shower.
Please keep in mind when booking this house is on an island and water conservation is appreciated.
BOATS INCLUDED? None, however, SUP & Kayak Rentals are available in Port Clyde at Port Clyde Kayaks 20 minutes south, or from Maine Sport, 20 minutes north in Rockport. Both deliver to the property. Sometimes, if the order is big, Ducktrap Kayaks will deliver as well to this property.
LINENS & TOWELS: The rental of this property includes all bed linens and towels. Beds will be made up upon arrival and there will be one bath towel and wash cloth per listed occupancy, two hand towels per bathroom, one bath mat per full bathroom, and two kitchen towels in the kitchen. Additional bath towels can be rented.
SECURITY DEPOSIT: Yes, a $250 Refundable Security Deposit may be required by the owne if the guest does not have an established relationship with On the Water in Maine. The security deposit is due 90 days prior to arrival and refunded within 30 days after a successful departure.

We love the property layout. Its perfect. The improvements to expand the dining area which in turn expanded the living room is wonderful. The clearing of the trees through out the perimeter of the land expands the exceptional views and feel of the property. The master bedroom view and wrap around porch are our favorite features!

No complaints - everyone was friendly, competent and helpful. Excellent response and customer service, everything clearly explained and problems responded to promptly. Everything was clean and ship-shape when we arrived. We loved having such a well-equipped kitchen, and appreciated On the Water's detailed list of requirements.

Working with the agency was seem less for check in and out. We had no need to communicate at any other time.
The location is simply perfect. The house is a perfect layout. We had grandmom so she was all set up on the first floor and a new born, so the master bedroom was awesome for mom dad and the baby!

Every time we called the staff was super nice. They went out of their way to be helpful and answer any questions we had. The guide binder we found in the house was very helpful also.
The house is very well maintained and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful. We enjoyed the fire pit. Easy access to the water and beach area was something we enjoyed also.

Each time I called, I received very courteous attention and good information. I had a family problem which caused me to have to cancel and then ultimately reschedule. My conversations were with Meg and she could not have been more helpfuland was so understanding.
The house and the yard were amazing and the fact that the house was so well stocked was great.

We've rented through the On the Water in Maine agency three times and the experience has always been top notch. We've found the properties to be well maintained and the staff has always been quick to remedy any issues or concerns.
The Jewel is a well maintained, spacious house. We enjoyed the large porch, the fire pit and the small beach across the street. The master bedroom is especially large, with a great view of the bay and Spruce Head Island.

Town Info - St. George Peninsula (Rackliff Island, Port Clyde, Tenants Harbor)
Primarily a fishing and lobstering community, St. George is made up of several distinct villages Clark Island, Wiley's Corner, Martinsville, Tenants Harbor, and Port Clyde. Although the harbor villages of Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde are the best known (and most visited), you'll find dining facilities, art galleries, and small businesses all along the diverse and beautiful coastal town.
